Who is Jabari Parker?   |   Contact Us
Dear Jabari,

First of all we want to say thank you! Thank you for the amazing example and standard you have set for Latter-day Saints across the world. You may never fully know how much it means to us having someone like you show our children how to live what you believe. Thank you for being willing to stand in the spotlight as a true disciple of Christ, and to stand up in the face of adversity and be proud to represent your beliefs. You have had so many reasons to give up or even keep quiet and yet you persist. Thank you.

We also want you to know that your decision of whether or not to go on a mission is very important to us. There will be many who will voice their opinion that you should not go. Our mission is to show you that we believe in you, and we believe going on a mission is the right thing to do. Our mission is to show you how many of us will be praying that choosing to go on a mission will make you more successful, not less. We will stand beside you and ask God to bless you for setting an example, an example that will have a level of influence that does not happen very often.

Many celebrities of all types who have been faced with the same decision have chosen their career. They say that they can do more good by not going on a mission and being a good example while so many people are watching them. This is just simply not true. There is no measurement that can describe the difference it will make in the world and for yourself if you decide to serve.

We have no idea how difficult this decision will be for you, but we do know what it will mean if you choose to serve. It will mean no amount of money can substitute for the experiences you gain from serving a mission. It will mean the standard of "every worthy young man" remaining strong. It will mean millions of members and non-members knowing that following the council of modern day prophets is who we are not just what we preach. But most importantly it will mean I can teach my son about the importance of serving a mission just by telling him about you.

This might sound like a lot to put on the shoulders of a young man, but we know you can do it. We know your Father in heaven will be there to help you do it. And now you know that we will be praying for you all along the way.

This is your decision to make and we will love you and support you no matter what you decide. We are excited for your future, and we look forward to hearing great things about you. Thank you again for your diligence and strength. Please always remember that we are rooting for you!

From your brothers and sisters in the gospel
